Malik Bin Dinar’s conversation with his Lord Almighty:

Malik Bin Dinar (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ) was once riding a boat. He had nothing in his pocket or insufficient dinars in his pockets or his money had dropped into the water. The boatman was collecting fare from all the passengers. When came his turn, he searched in his pocket but found nothing. The boatman demanded the money. He said, ‘I will pay you at the end while you collect from others and then started conversation with his Lord Almighty in his heart in these words: O Allah, I had a chance for earning Haram at some time in my life and due to your fear, I left it although I was in great need of it. O Allah! I have never raised my gaze at the forbidden. I have always bowed my head to seek your pleasure. Now when I am surrounded by the water on all sides and I have no one to stand by me. Although these people may not throw me into the water but upon reaching the destination that would insult me and hold my collar. O my Lord! I have the love of your Name and people call me Saint and Dervish. Please save me from humiliation and disgrace.’ While he was talking with Allah Almighty, it is mentioned in the narrations that all around his boat, there appear fish holding dinars in their mouths and every fish desired that its coin should be accepted by him.

Count the favours upon yourself:

My Shaykh Hadhrat Sayyad Muhammed Abdullah Hajveri (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ) would always say: you should mention the favours of Allah Almighty to Him like O Allah! You favoured upon Hadhrat Younus             (علیہ السلام) and brought him out of the belly of the fish. O Allah! There were no hopes that Hadhrat Ayub (علیہ السلام) would ever turn healthy but you favoured upon him with excellent health. O Allah, you protected Hadhrat Nuh (علیہ السلام) from the flood and Hadhrat Musa (علیہ السلام) from the mighty army of Pharaoh. O Allah! It was none other than you who had commanded the spider to make a cobweb on the entrance of the cave and a she-pigeon to lay its eggs there. O Allah! I am not the one upon whom you favoured all these but one of his humble followers and like you loved him and helped him, please be my Helpful too. Please bestow upon me your Favours and take me out of this trouble and misery. So in the letter, he mentioned that after having lost the money, I turned towards Allah and started whispering with him that He had made him a custodian of millions and blessed me to take care of numerous homeless people. O Allah, these ruined families had lost all their belongings but I had never kept any worldly desire or demand from them and with Your Favour I would return to them all their deposits.

The sainthood of Hadhrat Ibrahim bin Adham (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ):

Hadhrat Ibrahim bin Adham (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ) abandoned the throne and left his country as well as his wealth and home. His family was ruling the country for generations like Shah of Iran whose rule was snatched away by the destiny while Hadhrat Ibrahim bin Adham (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ) left his magnificent throne for the Author of Destiny. Once he was stitching his clothes at the bank of a river. One of his ministers thought to enquire about their former ruler and he came to him. He saw him in miserable condition with torn clothes and apparent misery. The minister asked him why he left the comforts of royal palace and his ancestral throne and why he had abandoned all that. He raised his head and said: I abandoned a worthless throne and Allah has blessed me with a Great Empire. The minister asked what sort of rule it was as he was wearing torn clothes and he was stitching his own ridden clothes and he was sitting at the riverside in a miserable condition while previously he would be dressed in the finest clothes while sitting on the throne and the elite and noble people would salute him. He would forgive a person with the wink of your eye and he would get caged a person whom he had desired. Such was the splendour of his rule and now he said that it was worthless and he got a magnificent rule then. It was not understandable for him.

Those believing in the apparent glitter:

Some people look at the saints with the eyes of their forehead and when they cannot feel anything worth noticing, they label them as imposter and pretenders. The eyes of forehead can never see the nobleness rather these are the eyes of the heart which need to be asked from Allah. The eyes of the forehead are so unreliable that sometimes a man gets shocked for his failure of observation and understanding but the eyes of heart would never deceive you and those eyes can only be found from the saints and the Godly people.
